North West Loop 8 days
Day 1:
Hanoi - Mai Chau (L,D)
Drive to
Mai Chau, enjoying the natural scenery en-route. Lunch in Mai Chau, where a
walk around the valley will allow you to visit the villages of Thai people
with houses on stilts. Enjoy the beauty of traditional embroidery, local art
and experience a home stay with the locals, while taking in their everyday
life and activities. Overnight in Mai Chau.
Day 2:
Mai Chau - Son La (B,L,D)
After
breakfast, drive to Son La, with a stop in Moc Chau where there are hundreds
of giant grass farms for the many grazing cows. Visit the notorious ancient
prison from the French war period. Overnight in Son La.
Day 3:
Son La – Dien Bien Phu (B,L,D)
We make
an early start to visit one or two colorful markets then head up to Dien
Bien Phu. The scenery en route is extremely breathtaking. Stop for lunch in
Tuan Giao. Continue to Dien Bien, while enjoying the wonderful scenery in
Pha Din pass. Upon arrival, we take a tour of historic town. Overnight in
Dien Bien.
Day 4:
Dien Bien Phu - Lai Chau - Tam Duong (B,L,D)
Visit the
stried battle field from the French colonial period, the war museum and
Muong Thanh airbase.
Drive
throughout Lai Chau for Tam Duong. Today you'll have a chance to see the
most beautiful hill tribes in Northern Vietnam such as H'Mong, Black Thai,
Black Dzao, Pazi... Overnight in Tam Duong.
Day 5
Tam Duong - Sapa. (B,L,D)
3-hour
trek to hill tribe villages around Tam Duong then drive to Sapa. Check in
and lunch.
Free
afternoon to explore Sapa by your self
Day 6:
Sapa (B,L,D)
We begin
our second day in Sapa by a short trek to picturesque Cat Cat valley home
to the colorful Hmong people. Later a jeep will bring us to red Dao village,
Ta Van and Cau May. Afternoon, walking on historic trails through the
splendid mountain scenery of terraced rice fields. Visit Tavan village
inhabited by the Zay minority. Here, we will enjoy a local dinner and an
overnight stay in their houses.
Day 7:
Sapa - Ethnic Market ((B,L)
Have an
optional market day trip. Depending on the day of the week, this may either
be Bac Ha (Sunday), home to the flower H’mong hill tribe minority people or
Can Cau takes part on Saturday; Coc Ly on Tuesday.
Day
8: Bac Ha - Hanoi (B,L)
After
breakfast, depart for Hanoi.
